LED display heat dissipation

Are LED screens hot? Yes, but there will be some components to dissipate heat. What is the reason for the heat of the LED display? The reason why the LED heats up is that the electrical energy is not completely converted into light energy, but a part of it is converted into heat energy. The light efficiency of LED is only 100lm/W, and its electro-optical conversion efficiency is only about 20~30%. That is to say, about 70% of the electrical energy is turned into heat energy.

Seven Ways to Solve the Heat Dissipation Problem of LED Screen

As one of the electronic devices, LED electronic large screen is packaged with very small power LED beads, but because a LED electronic large screen is packaged with thousands of beads, it will also generate heat.

Generally speaking, with the increase in the area of LED electronic large screen, the heat generated is also higher. Similarly, the higher the brightness, the greater the power, and the higher the heat generated. Generally speaking, the brightness of outdoor LED display is higher than that of indoor LED display, and the heat generated by external environment, such as high temperature environment in summer, is higher.

The better the heat dissipation, the more energy-saving LED electronic large screen, its service life and display effect are also better.

The following is a brief introduction by IDISPLAY who is a LED display manufacturer about the seven tips to solve the heat dissipation problem of LED electronic large screens.

1. Fan heat dissipation

Long-life and high-efficiency fans are used inside the lamp housing to enhance heat dissipation. This method is more commonly used. This method is low in cost and good in effect.

2. Use aluminum heat dissipation fins

Which is the most common heat dissipation method, use aluminum heat dissipation fins as a part of the shell to increase the heat dissipation area.

3. Air fluid mechanics

Using the shape of the lamp housing to create convective air, which is the lowest cost way to enhance heat dissipation.

4. Surface radiation heat dissipation treatment

The surface of the lamp shell is treated with radiation heat dissipation. The simpler method is to apply radiation heat dissipation paint, which can take heat away from the surface of the lamp shell by radiation.

5. Integration of heat conduction and heat dissipation–the use of high heat conduction ceramics

the purpose of heat dissipation of the lamp shell is to reduce the working temperature of the LED high-definition display chip, because the expansion coefficient of the LED chip is very different from that of our usual metal heat conduction and heat dissipation materials. The LED chips cannot be directly soldered to avoid high and low temperature thermal stress from damaging the chips of the LED display.

6. Heat pipe heat dissipation

Using heat pipe technology to guide the heat from the LED display chip to the heat dissipation fins of the shell.

7. The heat-conducting plastic shell is filled with heat-conducting materials when the plastic shell is injected

So as to increase the heat conduction and heat dissipation capabilities of the plastic shell.
